A note from the co-founders, Jackie Tanner & Sarah Osborne
Evolving Tree Therapy, like all great things, grew over time. Co-founders Jackie Tanner and Sarah Osborne first crossed paths nearly a decade ago while working together at a treatment center. Their professional journeys diverged, with Sarah establishing her own private practice in 2017 and Jackie pursuing different roles in the mental health field. Life brought them back together in 2021, as both welcomed new babies into their families and discovered their children were at the same daycare. What started as casual conversations between two moms quickly turned into peer supervision meetings, playdates, and a deep bond over shared experiences.
In 2022, encouraged by Sarah, Jackie took the leap to open her own private practice. Around this time, Jackie encountered a pivotal moment: a client recommended the documentary Fair Play, which profoundly resonated with her. The film illuminated the struggles of modern parenting and the inequities many moms face, sparking a passion within Jackie to support mothers in ways she hadn’t previously considered.
As they continued to share stories of motherhood and their personal postpartum struggles, Jackie and Sarah realized a glaring gap in support for moms and families. One Saturday morning at a park, while pushing their kids on swings, the seeds of Evolving Tree Therapy were planted. Jackie mentioned her dream of opening a group practice, and Sarah shared her desire to do the same—but with a partner. Together, they envisioned a space where moms could feel cared for, validated, and supported in their unique journeys.
The name Evolving Tree Therapy emerged as they brainstormed. Mothers are the “tree of life” for their families, and by strengthening moms—the core—everyone benefits. Healthier moms mean healthier children, healthier partnerships, and healthier communities. They imagined a practice not just for therapy but also as a hub for community, humor, and reprieve—a space where moms and non-birthing partners could find balance and connection.
Today, Evolving Tree Therapy offers services that include individual counseling for moms, couples counseling, and support for non-birthing partners. What started as an idea has blossomed into a thriving practice with a mission to empower parents during the most challenging phases of life. And this is just the beginning.
At Evolving Tree Therapy, we are committed to growing alongside the families we serve. Stay tuned—our vision for supporting parents and families is ever-evolving, and we can’t wait to share what’s next.

There are so few moments in life when we get to show up as our whole selves without fear of judgment. For those considering therapy, a part of them may already know they deserve a space like that—a space to dig deep, be messy, laugh, cry, and grow. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Drama Therapist, she helps create that space with and for her clients.
Understanding that some days people may not want to simply sit and talk about trauma, she integrates creative arts and trauma-centered interventions into her sessions. This allows clients to reconnect with their core selves, address current challenges, and build new pathways toward healing—beyond the confines of traditional talk therapy.
In each session, she works to cultivate an atmosphere that is deeply attuned to the individual and their healing journey. She believes virtual therapy should never feel like talking to a robot behind a screen. Instead, she shows up with authenticity, honesty, and compassion. Sessions might include moments of laughter followed by deep emotional exploration, all grounded in a genuine therapeutic connection where clients can feel unmasked and seen.
Rooted in a disability justice framework, she brings extensive experience supporting clients living with chronic illness and PTSD. Together in therapy, she helps clients honor and celebrate their identities while developing tools to navigate the social, societal, and environmental barriers they may face.
As a mom herself, she is thrilled to join the Evolving Tree team to support clients through the wild, beautiful, stressful, and life-changing journey of new parenthood.
